

Wanda Elliott, 100, of Virden, died Saturday, March 10, 2012 at Sunrise Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Virden. Wanda was born January 9, 1912 in Virden to John and Madeline Gerro Gianuzzi and just celebrated her 100th birthday with family and friends. Mrs. Elliott was a 1931 graduate of Virden High School. She and Walter Hamer Elliott married in 1939 and he preceded her in death in 1989. Her parents; sisters, Mary Peacock and Lena Broska also preceded in her in death. Wanda retired from SS Kresge after many years of service as a clerk in the toy department. As a young woman, she worked in a greenhouse which later grew into an enjoyable passion of gardening for vegetables and flowers. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Virden. Mrs. Elliott is survived by her son, Walter �Joe� Elliott of Virden; grandchildren, Tami (Alan) Brumfield of Thayer, Nancy (Terry) Kelly of Virden, Suzanne (Richard) Boston of Albany, IL, and John (Tina) Elliott of Thayer; 7 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren; brother, David Gianuzzi of Round Rock, TX; sister, Azilia Drake of Crystal Lake, IL, and several nieces and nephews. Cremation Rites will be accorded by Cremation Services of Central Illinois, Chatham before the ceremonies. Memorial Gathering and Service: Her family will greet friends from 10am until the time of the memorial service at 11am, Wednesday, March 14, at the First Christian Church, 101 North Church Street, Virden, with Pastor John Huxtable officiating. Burial will be at Virden Cemetery. Memorials: First Christian Church of Virden.
