

Wanda S. Young, 69, of Spaulding, passed away at 8:12 p.m. on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center. Wanda was born on February 23, 1947 in Mt. Sterling, IL, the daughter of Robert and Erma Lenover Newenham. She married Don Young on August 2, 1975 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Springfield. Wanda was a graduate of Mt. Sterling High School and attended Brown's Business College. She was employed by Horace Mann for 25 years and she retired from the St. John's Hospital Cath Lab after 38 years. She enjoyed recipes, cooking, and taking care of her grandchildren. Wanda was a very caring person who always wanted to treat people well. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Jerry Newenham. She is survived by her husband, Don Young of Spaulding; one daughter, Andrea (husband, Steven Sr.) Mumaw of Sherman; four grandchildren, Kaylin, Steven Jr., Ashley, and Andrew Mumaw; one brother, Roger (wife, Joanie) Newenham of Dietrich, IL; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation and Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 10:30 until 11:15 a.m. on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. A Funeral Ceremony will be held at 11:30 a.m. with Pastor Denny Mumaw officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
