Warren Wayne Lionberger

Warren Wayne Lionberger, 79, of Chatham, formerly of Tuscola and Robinson, passed away Monday, February 23, 2015 at St. Bernard�s Hospital, in Jonesboro, AR. He was born July 22, 1935 in Prairie Township in Crawford County near Eaton, IL to Edmund Ray and Cora Pearl Smith Lionberger. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy last November, and his grandson Kolin Lionberger. Warren married Dorothy Eileen Toliver on June 1, 1957. Mr. Lionberger began his teaching career in Tuscola where he and his wife taught high school math. After moving to Springfield, he was a grant administrator for the State Board of Education, from which he retired, after many years of service. Together with his wife, Warren was an active member of Chatham United Methodist Church. They served as a presenting couple in the Christian Marriage Encounter. He spent many hours at the Midwest Distribution Center repairing bicycles for 5 years. After retirement, Warren loved woodworking and often commented that he �loved making sawdust�! He will be greatly missed by his son, John E. Lionberger of Cypress, TX; daughter, Susan J. Lionberger (Melinda Lawson) of Springfield; grandchildren, Shannon Lionberger of Springfield, and Kelsi Lionberger of Lubbock, TX; brother, Dean Lionberger of Lawrenceville, IL; brothers-in-law, Ed (Martha) Toliver of Pine, AZ and John (Pam) Toliver of Many, LA; sisters-in-law, Mary Lee (Robert) Stanfield of Mt. Vernon and Connie Warner of Wood River; several nieces, nephews and cousins and many friends. Visitation: His family will greet friends from 4-7pm, Sunday, March 1, at Staab Polk Memorial Home, 8855 State Rt. 4, Chatham and from 10-11am, Monday, March 2, at Chatham United Methodist Church, 104 West Chestnut, Chatham. Funeral: 11am, Monday, March 2, at Chatham United Methodist Church, with Rev. Sara Isbell officiating. Committal will follow at Chatham Memorial Cemetery.
