

Warren E. Watts, 84, a lifelong resident of Springfield, passed away Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at Oak Terrace Healthcare Center.
Warren was born February 27, 1926, the son of Everette and Anna Belle Edwards Watts. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Betty Stork on March 15, 1947, in Springfield. She survives.
He is also survived by his three daughters; Deborah Watts of Springfield, Rebecca Watts (husband, Richard Garretson) of Athens, OH, and Mary Myers of Springfield. There are two grandchildren, Tara and Gabe Cowan, both of Springfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, Kenneth Myers; and his sister, Lorene Watts.
Warren worked for Phillips Bros. Printing as an executive sales representative, retiring in 1991 from his full-time responsibilities. He continued there part-time for several years thereafter.
He was a past member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, where he was very active on several boards and committees and served as an usher and a liturgist. Later, he and Betty joined Laurel United Methodist Church. Warren gave in so many ways to his community. He was a member of the Jaycees and received the “Outstanding Jaycee of the Year” award for 1957-1958. He was a member of the American Business Club, and served with Memorial Medical Center in their “Heartfelt” program. He played softball, enjoyed auto racing, was an avid bowler in various leagues, and whistled beautifully, bringing joy to all who heard him.
Arrangements are under the direction of Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 S. Koke Mill Road, where visitation will be on Sunday August 1, 2010 from 2:00 – 5:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am Monday August 2, 2010 there at the funeral home. Rev. Jerry King will officiate. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. In honor of Warren, family, friends and guests are encouraged, if possible, to wear something yellow, his favorite color.
