

William J. Keeley, 75, of Springfield, died at 6:45 a.m. on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at St. John's Hospice. William was born September 17, 1934 in Springfield, the son of Thomas T. and Mary R. Clancy Keeley. William was a graduate of Feitshans High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving from 1951 to 1955 and spending three years in England. William was employed at Sears Roebuck in sales and retired from that position. He was a member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and Knights of Columbus #364. William also belonged to the Rod and Reel Club and enjoyed golf and bowling. He was an avid Notre Dame and St. Louis Cardinals fan. He was also preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Janet Lea Keeley, brother, Thomas Paul Keeley, Jr. and great-grandson, Cooper Mueller. He is survived by two daughters, Patricia Hays (significant other, Mickey Hamilton) and Judith Ladage both of Auburn; five grandchildren, Mandi (husband, Matt) Kern of Auburn, Lance (wife, Sara) Wells of Mint Hill, NC, Darrelle Hays (fianc, Steven Mueller) of Spaulding, Kelsie Plunkett (fianc, Josh Sprague) of Auburn and Madison Ladage of Auburn; four great-grandchildren, Austin, Talin, Faith and Adalynn; and two brothers, Donald (wife, Catherine "Dolly") Keeley of Streator and Larry (wife, Rita) Keeley of South Bend, IN. Family will receive friends from 11:00 to 12:45 p.m. on Monday, November 30, 2009 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral ceremonies will follow at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County and the U.S. Air Force.
