

He was born June 1, 1928 in Springfield, the son of William and Clara Schimanski Kochman. He married Verna Pelley November 20, 1950.
Bill served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. After returning from the service, he worked for Sangamo Electric and then retired from the State of Illinois where he was a stationary engineer at the Centennial Building.
Bill was a life member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, LCMS where he served on various boards and committees spanning his life. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 755 and a barber shopper with the Land of Lincoln Chorus.
Surviving are his wife Verna, two daughters: Debra (Barry) Locher of Springfield and Deanna Kochman of Glendale, AZ, his son: William Kochman of Springfield, four grandchildren: Tad Locher, Bonnie Locher, Joseph Locher and Savannah Kochman all of Springfield, four sisters: Esther (Herb) Theilen of New Berlin, IL, Dorothy (Orville) Ladage of Waverly, IL, Janet Hazlett of Ohio, and Carol Anne (Ron) Oldani of Champaign, IL, two brothers: Herbert Kochman of Nevada and Jerry Kochman of Wisconsin. There are several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation: 4-7 PM Thursday, September 18, 2014 at Bisch and Son Funeral Home 505 E. Allen, Springfield, IL. Additional Visitation will be from 9:30 am Friday September 19, 2014 until time of service at 10:30 am at Immanuel Lutheran Church 2750 E. Sangamon Ave., Springfield, IL.
Funeral Service: 10:30 am Friday, September 19, 2014 at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Rev. Darrell Debowy officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Inter-Veterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County.
