

William R. “Bill” Ragland, 75, of Edinburg, passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2013, at his home with his loving family at his side. Bill was born on December 17, 1937, in Hannibal, MO, the son of Francis “Hank” and Jessie (Hays) Ragland. Bill married Linda Bounds on March 13, 1954, in Petersburg. He worked as a tool/dye maker for Fiat Allis until he retired in 1985. Bill enjoyed the great outdoors, he had especially enjoyed hunting and fishing, he loved listening to country, bluegrass, and gospel music, Bill’s happiest times were spent enjoying the company of family and friends.
Surviving Bill is his loving wife of nearly 60 years Linda Ragland of Edinburg, his children: Cheryl (Montie) Persinger of Flora, William P. (Rose) Ragland, of Edinburg, Deborah (Randy) Thomas of Taylorville, Mark A (Jo Ann) Ragland of Chatham, Paula (Charlie) Woods of Petersburg, and Terry “Burr” (Keri) Ginger, of Morrisonville, his siblings: Jackie Lechner of Ft. Worth, TX, Lynne Rynders of Springfield, and Richard M. (Pam) Ragland of Kincaid, brothers and sisters in law: Raymond (Beverly) Bounds of Springfield, Beverly (Rick) Kaydus of Glenarm, and Mary Turney of Taylorville, grandchildren: John, Rebecca, Adam, and Rachelle Johnson, Ginger White, Amy Hart, Jared Ragland, Joshua (Erica) Thomas, Amanda (Buck) Polley, Curt (Andrea) Cassidy, Seth (Jessica) Ragland, Kelly (Harold) Bertolis, Cindy (Craig) Law, Ryan (Cortney) Woods, Melanie (Scott) Gietl, and Seth Ginger Falon Brumfield, 23 great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Preceding Bill in death are his Parents, mother and father in law, Art and Henrietta Bounds, and Brother-in-law, John Bounds.
Visitation for Bill will be on Sunday, December 15, from 3-7 pm at Bisch & Son Funeral Home, 505 E Allen St Springfield IL 62703.
A funeral service conducted by Rev. Dick Wamsley will be on Monday, December 16, at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until the time of service. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Loving Arms Taylorville, IL, Edinburg Food Bank, or American Red Cross for Tornado Relief of Washington, IL.
