AUX SOINS DE
Demaine Funeral Home
Ann B. Dau passed away peacefully on December 12 surrounded by her loving family.
Born in St. Louis, Missouri to Walter and Mary Baumstark, she grew up in Winnetka, Illinois before attending Marymount College in Alexandria, Virginia where she met and in 1964 married the love of her life, Rick. Ann then began a twenty-year career as a Navy wife and mother of five boys, moving the family over 21 times. After finally settling in Annandale, Virginia she became an accomplished gardener and quilter, and then in retirement an avid world-traveler, golfer, and part-time resident of Clearwater Florida. However, she would be quick to tell you her greatest accomplishment was the raising of her five sons to become Naval Officers, Firefighters and School teachers.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Rick, and four sons; Rick (Melody), Bob, Scott, and Steven (Ann), as well as six grandchildren. Her son Brian (Tricia) predeceased her in 2005. She is also survived by her brother Jim and sisters Carolyn and Susan.
She will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery in the Spring.
In lieu of flowers the family recommends donations to support the nurses that gave Ann outstanding care while in the hospital at foundation.inova.org, then select “nursing education program” and enter 700130 in the comments block.
