Born in Bamberg, Germany, the oldest of four sisters, she met and married Army Lt. William M. Church and raised their family. Always with a sense of humor, she enjoyed entertaining, gardening and playing bridge with her girl friends. She was an active member of St.Bernadettes Catholic Church and a community volunteer.
She is survived by her children Nancy, Paul and Lisa, grandchildren Sarah and Will, sisters Helen and Brigitte, nieces and nephews Patricia, Sabine, Jim, Brian and Gregor. Anne was predeceased by her husband Lt.Col. William M. Church (1969), sister Herta (1991) and brother-in-law Col. John McCleary (2012).
Her greatest joy in recent years was her role as Oma to Sarah and Will, whom she loved dearly. All of us continue to chuckle about her unique sayings, and in her honor we will always remember to "make things a little nice."
A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 28 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Demaine Funeral Home, 5308 Backlick Road in Springfield. She will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery alongside her husband (tbd). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association . Condolences to the family may be sent to [email protected].
The family conveys its heartfelt thanks to her caregivers from LivHOME for their extraordinary compassion and support.
