Anne Byrd Pilcher

Mrs. Pilcher also worked as a personnel asst. for Fairfax Ct. Public Schools in the 80’s and 90’s after her three sons were of college age.

After attending Elon College in N.C. for two years, she graduated from Mary Washington College in 1949, receiving a B.A. degree in English.

She and her husband, James A. Pilcher, who preceded her in death, moved to Northern Virginia in 1968 when he was transferred from Langley to the Pentagon.

Mrs. Pilcher was born in Newport News, VA, the daughter of Erna Rawles and Harvey Rogers Byrd. Her parents were descendants of early English settlers in the Suffolk area of Virginia.

Survivors include three sons, James A. Pilcher IV, Paul S. Pilcher, and Thomas L. Pilcher, all in Northern Virginia; daughters in-law Judy and Angela; and five grandchildren, Luke, Dane, Trent, Curtis, and Abigail.
