
Arthur was born August 23, 1928, in Brooklyn, NY and graduated from the United States Military Academy, West Point, NY, Class of 52. Upon graduation, Arthur married Rosetta (Bonnie) Lantry. As a second lieutenant in the Army, Arthur served in the Korean War. Upon return from the Korean War, Arthur retired his regular Army commission and joined the New York Army National Guard. He served for over 30 years, retiring with the rank of Brigadier General. His medals and awards include Meritorious Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, and Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation Badge.
In his civilian life, Arthur worked for, and retired from NYNEX. After retirement Art was engaged in various community activities including the Rockland County GOP, the Congers VFW and served as the Rockland County Commissioner of Sanitation.
Arthur was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie, after 62 years of marriage, and his parents and sibling, Andrew. He’s survived by his daughter Suzy (Michael) Pellegrino and sons Gerard (Sheila), Michael and Thomas (Sharon) Jackson, grandchildren Kelly, Maggie, Theresa (Lars Kohler), Joeseph, Colleen, Sofia, and Victoria, in addition to many nieces and nephews. Arthur will be interred at the United States Military Academy in the Spring of 2022. A celebration of life will be held at the Academy at a future date.
