Born in Schenectady, NY in 1931, Barbara Weaver lived a life full of love, compassion, and an unwavering dedication to her family and friends. In 1952, Barbara married her soulmate, Bill Weaver, embarking on a seventy-two-year journey together. Starting out in Endicott, NY, they moved to Buffalo, NY to raise their family, retired to St. Simons Island, GA, and eventually settled at Westminister at Lake Ridge in Virginia, where they spent their golden years.
Barbara dedicated herself to raising her three daughters before earning a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work at Buffalo State University in 1976. She went on to a social work career serving the elderly at Brother’s of Mercy in Clarence, NY. Barbara was a lifelong volunteer in her community, and shared her talents as the soprano soloist at Kenmore Presbyterian Church for many years.
Barbara's true legacy is the love she shared, the lives she touched, and the beautiful memories she leaves behind. She was a beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, cherished by her husband, Bill Weaver; brother, Richard Lee Traver (Margaret); daughters, Diane Hazzard (Rusty), Kathie Weaver (Josh Kramer), and Carolyn Weaver (Rex Batson); grandchildren, Libby Hayes (Joe), Amy Moore (Hart), Traver Batson, and Jack Kramer; and her great-grandchildren, Nolan Hayes, Emmett Hayes, and Caroline Moore. Barbara’s nieces and nephew were a special part of her life; Wendy Riehman, Judy Riehman (Brad Bryan), Carrie Riehman-Long (Mike Long), and Kevin Traver (Jennifer Hunt-Traver).
A celebration of Barbara's life will be held Saturday, March 30th at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel at Westminister at Lake Ridge.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to PEO International, which supports women in pursuing their educational goals.
