Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, Shriner and Marine Corps veteran passed away at 91 on May 7, 2022. Bennie was born on September 23, 1930, raised in Northern Virginia, and graduated from Herndon High School. He married Marie Crupper in 1955 and raised two daughters while working as a carpenter, building kitchens for more than forty years. Bennie dedicated his life to helping others through various community and civic organizations. He was a Freemason and a Shriner, who volunteered for decades to drive sick children to the Shriners Hospital for Children. He answered the call of his Nation by joining the Marine Corps in 1950 and was forever proud of his distinguished service in uniform.
Bennie is predeceased by his parents, Bennie and Julia Wilson; his wife, Marie; his four siblings, Edward, Nolan, Norris Brady and Ardene Foster; and his son-in-law, Jerry. He is survived by his daughters, Kellie Daggle and Kim (John) Monteith; seven grandchildren, Kristin (Tommy) Gallagher, Dr. Lindsey (Kevin Conole) Daggle, Ryan (Martina) Daggle, Trevor Daggle, Courtney Monteith, Cody Monteith, and Luke Daggle; 10 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and his dear friend, Ellen Owens.
A celebration of Bennie’s life is scheduled for Monday, May 23, 2022, 11 a.m., at Demaine Funeral Home at 5308 Backlick Rd, Springfield, VA, 22151. Burial will be at Quantico National Cemetery, 18424 Joplin Rd, Triangle, VA 22172. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children at https://www.shrinerschildrens.org.
