Carl Stephen Murphy

Carl was born in Albany NY to Gretchen Rohrbach Murphy and Stephen Mulville Murphy on May 30, 1960. . He married Donna Hoying Murphy on June 25, 1988 in Coronado, CA. He graduated from Lewis and Clark college in Portland OR with a Bachelor's degree in Communication and joined the Navy in 1985 and retired in August 2007 as a Commander serving as a surface warfare officer/ engineer. While in the Navy , Carl obtained an MBA from JFK university and a Masters degree in Military Studies at Command and Staff college Quantico , VA. Carl worked as a defense contractor as a senior analyst following his retirement from the Navy until June 30, 2025.

Carl is preceded in death by his parents Gretchen and Stephen and by his beloved step mother Teddy Murphy.

Carl is survived by his wife Donna, daughter Megan Gage and husband Charlie Gage from San Diego ,CA and a son Ryan Murphy from Springfield VA. Brothers Andrew Murphy and wife Martha , Scott Webber and Diane, and sisters Lynn Webber Molloy and husband Tom Molloy and Noel Murphy and husband Jeff Fowler. In laws include Denny and Nancy Hoying, John and Diana Hoying. Jim and Karen Hoying, Joann and Dave Schindler , Randy and Linda Hoying , Tom and Gina Hoying ,Marge and Bill Dulin and Pat and Howard Overman. He also has 33 surviving nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Life will be held in Springfield VA, New Bremen, OH and San Diego CA.
