AUX SOINS DE
Demaine Funeral Home
On April 14, 2024, Don passed peacefully at his home in Alexandria, at the age of 83.
In the dictionary, the definition of Altruism is the belief in, or practice of concern for the well-being of others. Looking back over my years with my father, I can honestly say I've never met anyone more kind-hearted as he. He was always offering a helping hand, a smile and a wave for friends and strangers alike. If you were lucky enough to have met him once, you'd have had a friend for life. Everything I know about compassion and unconditional love in connections I learned from him. I can honestly say he left this world a better place simply because he was in it. I will deeply miss his smile like sunshine, his booming laugh, his funny stories and bear hugs. All these memories are now and will forever be a blessing.
Among his many accomplishments he graduated from Louisiana Polytechnic Institute with a BS in Science in Business Administration. He was also a member of The Sigma Tau Delta English Fraternity there as well.
In 1972 he married my late Mother Judith A. Bright, and they were happily married until she passed away in 2015.
He was Chief of the Accounting and Review Division for the Civil Aeronautics Board in San Mateo CA before it went Sunset in 1980.
He was then hired by the Department of Transportation in Washington DC and retired as Manager of Airline Information.
Don leaves behind me, Rachael A. Bright, his Son in Law, Trey Coonrod and his brother William Byron Bright and many beloved nieces and nephews.
If you wish to make a donation in lieu of flowers we have chosen the Animal Welfare League as Don adored his dog Dash and Cat Daisey, both of which were rescues.
