

Emma Elizabeth Kania was born on October 17, 1924 in Wythe County, VA to the late Charles Henry Wright and Eva Bessie Gardner Wright. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Walter Kania, her parents, and her siblings Mabel Webb, Elizabeth Dodson, Roy Wright, Charles Burt Wright (her twin brother), Dewey Wright, Sr., Gladys Griffin and Peggy Summers.
Emma is survived by her son, Michael Vincent Kania and daughter-in-law Christine, and her daughter Janette Eva Manwiller and son-in-law Howard, and two granddaughters Megan Kania and Holly Kania.
Following her graduation from Brentsville District High School in Nokesville, VA in 1943, Emma moved to Washington, DC and worked for the Bureau of Home Economics at the Department of Agriculture until she married Frank in 1953. After her children graduated high school, she resumed her federal career as an Accounting Officer with the Department of Army at Fort Belvoir, VA.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 12 at Demaine Funeral Home at 5308 Backlick Road, Springfield, VA. Visitation opens at 11am, followed by a Memorial Service and Reception. Emma will be interred with her husband Frank at Arlington Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be considered to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the Alzheimer’s Association, or Hospice.
