Ernst T. Tonstad

Age 89, of Gambrills, MD, passed away peacefully at his residence on Saturday, December 28, 2013. Beloved husband of Gerd Tonstad of Gambrills, MD; loving father of Mai Forinash of Atlanta, GA; stepfather of Monica (Tom) Wieland of Gambrills, MD, Karen (Robert) Andersen of Bowie, MD, Steve Andersen of Silver Spring, MD, and Loraine (Bruce) Stoops of Silver Spring, MD; grandfather of Erik (Julie) Forinash of Atlanta, GA and Kara Forinash of Tampa, FL; step-grandfather of Jeremy and Erika Wieland, Tamera (John) Tippet, and Bobby, Faith, Erik, Tony, Atlantis, Tyler, Cameron, and Tia Andersen, Haley Stoops, and Paul (Farrah) Kuhlman; great grandfather of Madeline, Taoeb, and Miller; and step great grandfather of Vette, Van, and Dawson.

Mr. Tonstad was born in Lista, Norway on September 26, 1924 to the late Peter and Martha Tonstad. He was a member of the Sons of Norway and was the proud successful owner of Tonstad Caulking Co. in Alexandria, VA for 40 years.

Visitation will be held at the DEMAINE FUNERAL HOME, 5308 Backlick Rd., Springfield, VA (703)941-9428 on Friday, January 3, 2014 from 3:00-7:00 PM, where a funeral service will also be held on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 2:00 PM.
