Etta Lillian Walker

Born December 1, 1923 in Lynchburg, Virginia she was the daughter of the late Royal B. Ferguson and Lillian R. Ferguson of Baltimore, MD. After graduating from E.C. Glass HS in Lynchburg, VA in 1939 she moved to the Newport News, VA area and worked as a telephone operator for C&P Telephone Co. She married, now deceased, William T. Walker of Lookout, West Virginia in 1944 and moved to Alexandria, VA. In addition to being along standing member of Calvary Presbyterian Church, she was the Secretary there from 1961 to 1965. She was Calvary's longest active member at present, having joined the church April 6, 1952. Etta was active with the Calvary Presbyterian Women and served as treasurer of the group for about 25 years. In 1965 she took a position as Secretary in the Supply Department at the Veterans Administration in DC and retired in 1988. She was very active in her Church and Community Services.

She is survived by two children, her son Willian F. Walker of Springfield, VA and daughter, Linda S. Ritter and Husband Earl R. Ritter of Boyce, VA; four grandchildren Jennifer, Brett, Curtis, and Stephan and nine great-grandchildren Nicola, Riley, Tatum, Nathan, Lauren, Campbell, Addison, Lincoln, and Torrance.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks tha tmemorials be made to Calvary Presbyterian Church in memory of Etta Walker or to Capital Caring Hospice, 2900 Telestar Ct., Falls Church, VA 22042.
