Col. Francis Randolph Munt February 20, 2020 Col. Francis Randolph Munt (Randy), retired U.S. Army and veteran of World War II, Korea and Viet Nam, went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 20, 2020. A Virginia native born in Petersburg, Va., on Oct. 13, 1920, he was a graduate of Hampden-Sydney College before enlisting to serve in WW II and continued to serve in the U.S. Army for 29 years. He later worked at George Washington University for 15 years before retiring. He was known fondly to family and friends as “Big Daddy” and lived a rich life of 99 years. Col. Munt is preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Betty Jane Munt; his parents, Irving and Lulu Munt; his brother, Christian; his sisters, Louise Munt and Carter Clopton. He is survived by his three children Judith Hauser (Bill), Kristine Maney (Ron), Bill Munt (Joyce). Big Daddy will be missed greatly by his grandchildren Ann Marie Hauser, Mark Hauser, Katie Maney, Jason Munt (Tracy), Kelly Munt, and Eric Munt, and by his great grandchild Logan Munt. He is also survived by his niece and namesake Randy (Clopton) Race of Austin, Texas. The family would especially like to thank the wonderful support and care of the dedicated team at The Fairfax Senior Living Community at Ft. Belvoir, Virginia and Capital Caring Hospice Services, Alexandria, Virginia Office. A memorial service will be held at the Old Post Chapel and burial service will be held at Arlington National Cemetery on Friday August 21st, at 11:00 a.m. (Must arrive by 10:00 a.m.) In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Capital Caring Hospice Services, 5845 Richmond Highway, Suite 150, Alexandria, Virginia 22303.
