Frank is survived and missed by his loving wife, Aisha, and his greatest joy—his children—Nicole, Derek, Susanna, Grant, Autumn, and Alexis-Kyle. He is forever cherished and remembered by his beloved parents, Frank and Sarah; his loving sister, Lynn, and her husband, Bill; devoted mother-in law, Ruth; father-in-law, Bruce; brother-in law, Bruce Ahmon, and his wife, Salena; Uncle Willie; and his “brother,” Justin.
Frank’s memory also lives on with his nieces and nephew, Hallie, Camille, and Jordan; cousins, Lorretta, Anne, Jackie, Michelle, Emm, Daniel, Kellie, Nicole, Derek, Bryan, Lou, Danny; and extended family members and in-laws.
Frank was born in Fort Campbell, Kentucky on September 12, 1970. He grew up a proud Army “brat” traveling the world including Germany, South Korea, and ultimately Puerto Rico where he graduated from high school as athlete of the year. From these early experiences, his love of travel, cultural foods, science fiction, and an unreasonable passion for gummy bears was born.
After earning bachelor’s and master’s degrees in computer science from George Mason University and George Washington University, Frank thrived professionally in a 30-year career in information technology. He held several key leadership positions in industry, higher education, and non-profit communities. In 2019 Frank joined the Bright MLS family as their Chief Technology Officer. Prior to working at Bright, Frank was Chief Information Officer at Amify; Chief Architect at PenFed; and he held senior leadership roles at Capital One, USAA (where he co-led design and integration of USAA’s app and much of the company’s website and technology, such as mobile bank deposit), AARP, Freddie Mac, and numerous other major companies. While extremely modest, Frank held five patents, received numerous awards and recognitions, including being named a 2023 RISMedia Real Estate Newsmaker & Achiever, was a sought-after national speaker and thought leader, and was featured in and co-authored numerous publications.
Most recently, Frank was proud to join Byte Back as a board member. Byte Back’s mission is to close the digital divide by providing under-resourced communities an equitable pathway into the digital economy, a cause that was incredibly important to Frank. Frank also served as a Trustee of the George Mason University Foundation, Inc. and as a board member of the Real Estate Standards Organization.
Frank had the biggest heart and the most beautiful smile. He was a private and quiet person, but also very witty and fun! Anyone who knew Frank knew that he was the most loving and devoted husband, father, son, and brother a family could ask for. He shared this same love with his extended family, friends, and colleagues. He will be missed and remembered by us all.
A celebration of Frank’s life will be held at Demaine Funeral Home on Sunday, May 7, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., located at 5308 Backlick Road, Springfield, VA 22151.
The family requests donations be made to Byte Back in honor of Frank’s memory.
