

George was born in Dallas, Pennsylvania on May 26, 1927. He was the son of William Krause and Bertha Mae Harris. George graduated from Tunkhannock High School Tunkhannock, PA, and earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Omaha University and a Master’s Degree from the University of Southern California.
George was a retired Army Colonel and veteran of the Vietnam War. Colonel Krause’s 29 year Army career began on 26 June 1950 when he enlisted in the 28th Infantry Division, Pennsylvania National Guard. He rose through the ranks, obtaining a commission as a 2nd Lt from the Infantry School, Ft. Benning, GA in March 1952. George was recognized for his military service with the following decorations: Legion of Merit with First Oak Leaf Cluster, Bronze Star Medal with Second Oak Leaf Cluster, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Air Medal with V-Device for Valor + 10 Awards, National Defense Service Medal with First Oak Leaf Cluster, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Parachutist Badge, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Silver Star, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, and the Combat Infantry Badge.
Upon his retirement from the Army in 1979, Colonel Krause joined JAYCOR, a consulting firm located in Northern VA. He served as a research analyst, division chief, and retired in March 1992 as a Vice President. Following his retirement from JAYCOR, he served as a volunteer at Fort Belvoir, Virginia; was employed by H & R Block; pursued his hobbies of gardening and woodworking; spent time with his wife, Eva; and visiting with his family, children, and grandchildren.
George is survived by his wife of 64 years, Eva Louise Dressler. They were married on December 25, 1952 in Dunmore PA. He is also survived by his three children, Eric R. Krause of Alexandria, VA; Paul A. Krause of Colorado Springs, CO; and Suzanne M. Mains and son-in-law Thomas P. Mains, III of Manassas, VA; his seven grandchildren, Thomas P. Mains IV, Kyle W. Mains, Shelby K. Mains, Mercedes Santana, Mitchell Krause, Vanessa Krause, and Isabella Krause; and his great granddaughter Riley E. Mains. Survivors also include three brothers; Ernest H. Krause of Addison, IL, John H. Krause of Clayton, NC, and Keith A. Krause of Boynton Beach, FL.
Following a memorial service at the Ft. Myer Post Chapel, George will be interred with graveside military honors at Arlington National Cemetery on a date to be determined.
