Jack Bruce Shotwell

JACK B. SHOTWELL, MAJ(Ret.) USAR (Age 92)

On September 8, 2014, from Springfield, VA, devoted husband for 28 years to Mary E. Shotwell; as well as husband to the late Mary Allen Shotwell for 30 years; father of William (& Patricia), Bruce, Linda, Joanne (& Stephen Burgess), Jean (& John Allen), and Craig (& Beth); Grandfather to 12, and Great Grandfather to 4. Sisters Joyce Edgar and Deloris Switzer, as well as several nieces and nephews also survive him. Jack made a proud name for the Shotwell family by joining the Army Air Corps in 1939 and later applying to Officers' Candidate School and becoming an Officer. He traveled the world and honorably served his country in Iceland, India, Korea, Lebanon, Italy, and Panama, among other stateside posts during and after World War II and the Korean War. He retired as a Major after 24 years of service to our country. His family will hold a visitation at Demaine Funeral Home, 5308 Backlick Rd., Springfield, VA, Monday, September 15, from 6-7 p.m., followed by a service from 7-8 p.m. In the coming months, he will be finally interred at Arlington National Cemetery receiving full military honors.
