James R Kennedy

Jim was born in Hammond, Indiana to Lamar Kennedy and Marjorie Fraiken on April 18, 1941. He married Susan A. Kennedy on February 12, 1966 in Natick, MA. He graduated with a BS from the University of Texas and a MS from Union College. He spent his career in Contracts Administration with General Electric and Martin Marietta in the Aerospace industry. He served in the US Army and was involved in scouting with his three boys. In his retirement he enjoyed traveling, golf, painting, and spending time with family and friends.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents and brother Edmond Kennedy. He is survived by his wife, Susan A. Kennedy; His sisters Cheryl Rule, Joanne Harman and Linda Wheeler; His sons David R. Kennedy (Veronica), Daniel J. Kennedy (Wendy) and Thomas W. Kennedy (Mary); and Grandchildren Katie Kennedy, Taylor Kennedy, Laila Kennedy, Brooke Kennedy, Max Kennedy, Cole Kennedy and Will Kennedy.

A funeral mass for James will be held Friday August 22, 2025 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 7600 Old Keene Mill Rd, Springfield, VA 22152. Please join us at Maggiano's Little Italy in Springfield after Mass for a reception lunch.

Burial will follow at the Quantico National Cemetery at a later date.
