

Judith Lynn Bishop nee Whitaker passed away on June 14, 2011. She was born September 4, 1944 in Floresville, Texas and grew up in Brownsville, Texas, where she graduated from Brownsville High School in 1962. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in education. After graduation she moved to the San Francisco Bay Area where she taught school and followed her dream of being a professional singer. In 1974 she married guitar player and singer/songwriter Larry Duane Bishop and together, they formed a band that performed in the San Francisco Bay Area and raised their daughter, Daylyn. Later she moved to New Mexico, then Midland, Texas, finally settling in Houston, Texas with her daughter where she lived for many years. She worked as an executive secretary finally focusing on a career as a massage therapist. For the past year, she has lived in Alexandria, VA to be near her daughter and granddaughter. Known for her angelic voice, she never lost her love for singing. Spiritual, loving, giving, mindful; she looked at life as a mystery to be solved.
She is survived by her daughter, Daylyn Freeby and her husband Jason; one brother, Tom Whitaker and wife Debbie; one grandchild, Vivian Lynn.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Houston,TX in September or October 2011 (Date TBD)
