Laura Ann Young

Laura Ann Young of Dallas, Texas, passed away at the age of 78 on 06 March 2025 in Alexandria, Virginia. She was born in Dallas, Texas to Annie Mae Ballard and Raymond Moore on 24 December 1946. She lived in Texas until 1963 when her family moved to Richmond, California. Here she met the love of her life, Robert Young, whom she married on 14 August 1966.

Laura loved the Lord with all her heart and served Him faithfully with song and worship from a young age, and grew into a powerful Prayer Warrior. She was a wonderful mother, loving and kind, who was Mother to many; always there when anyone needed her, offering prayer, support, wisdom, understanding and an abundance of love. During her Christian journey, Laura was actively involved in a number of church activities: The Mother’s Board, Prison Ministry, Soup Kitchen, Women’s Ministry, and Church Choir.

Laura is preceded in death by her husband Robert Young, her daughter Myeesha Young, and her mother Annie Mae Ballard.

Laura is survived by her daughters, Missy Green and Robyn Young; sister Vickie Fowler; grandchildren: LaMisha Green, Jerdaile Green, and Jarelle Peters; Great grandchildren: Maliyah Randle, Lamaine Randle, Makiyah Randle, Nicara and Nicari Randle-Low, Larelle Randle, Blessing Smith, and Asiayanna Green; niece and nephew Marla Harvey and Brandon James; great nieces and nephews Sologne Patterson-Schumacher, Jason James, Jeremiah James, Annie Harvey; cousin Sabrina Cruz; Cherished friend/sister Gloria Foster, and a host of family members and friends.

Funeral services will be held 11:00am on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at Christian Home Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Alfred Fisher of Fisher Memorial, officiating.

The family would like to extend our gratitude to Dr. Mina Garrett Scott for her tireless care of Laura in her final days.
