On November 3, 2021, Mary Lou Hollett, passed away peacefully at the age of 85. Although she never had any biological children of her own, she was a Mom, Nana, Granny Lou, and Aunt Lou to many. She cared deeply for her family and friends. She did this not out of obligation, but because it was who she was. She was always the first to offer help and always ensured that every person that crossed her path was safe, healthy, and happy.
Mary Lou was born in Baltimore, MD to Ellis Dixon Hagy and Mary Lucille Strosnider in March of 1936. She graduated from New England Bible Institute in 1957. She worked as a Manpower Specialist for the Federal Government and retired in 1995. She remained active in her retirement working for various companies and for her church. She also served as a chaplain at Alexandria Inova Hospital for 11 years. On May 13, 2006, she was awarded a Church Minister Certification by her then pastor and friend, D. Wendall Cover.
Mary Lou is preceded in death by her parents as well as her sister, Janet Warner and brothers, William, James, and Paul Hagy.
Mary Lou is survived by her sister, Carole Tyree, her brother, Ellis Hagy and sister-in-law, Barbara Brathwaite.
The family invites you to join them for a homegoing service that will be held Friday, November 12, 2021, at Word of Life International Church in Springfield, VA.
