

On Thursday, October 29, 2015, Nancy S. Benson of Fairfax Station, VA passed away at home next to her beloved husband Mark M. Benson of 27 years. Born in Red Oak, Iowa and a graduate of the University of Iowa, she earned her master's degree in speech pathology and worked in both private practice and public schools. She served as president of Chi Omega's Northern VA Alumnae Chapter, embraced her role as a Navy wife, acted as the heartbeat of a decades-old book club, and developed a deep love for the arts through frequent attendance at Kennedy Center performances, Wolf Trap concerts and the region's art gallery exhibits. She traveled internationally on a dozen biking vacations, enjoyed boating on the Potomac with her family, and made any excuse to visit her granddaughters. She is survived by her husband; daughter Josie Cellone, son-in-law Brandon, and their children Eliana and Maeve of Pittsburgh, PA; her son Cliff Roberts of Minneapolis, MN; sisters Diane Kilzer of Denver, CO and Debbie Johnson of Ashland, OR; brother Chuck Lakin of Omaha, NE; and parents Charles and Florence Lakin of Omaha, NE.
