

Niki is survived by her husband, Gary Lachica; parents Costas and Janice Labovites; children, Jason (Dulsey) Lachica, two grandsons Jason and Anthony, Jessica (Michael) Wilburn, two granddaughters Annabelle and Delilah; siblings, Jim (Candy) Labovites.
Niki was born on January 31 in Alexandria, Virginia to Costas and Janice Labovites. She graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1982 and went on to attend the University of Virginia followed by George Mason University with a degree and masters in Teaching and Child phycology. She married Gary Lachica, her high school sweetheart in December 1983. After staying in her hometown, Niki began working for Fairfax County as a teacher. The couple welcomed 2 children into their home and her children remember her as a kind, gentle, patient and driven mother who encouraged them to pursue their goals.
Niki was a generous, witty and dedicated individual who loved reading and spending time with her family and friends and who was passionate about educating students. She was an active and dedicated member of the Saint Sophia Greek Orthodox Church and was always active in her children's school and sport activities.
The viewing will be Monday June 2, 2025 at 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM will be held at Demaine Funeral Home in Springfield, Va. The funeral will be June 3, 2025 with a viewing at 10:00 AM at Saint Sophia Greek Cathedral in Washington, DC With a a funeral service at 11:00 AM, with the Makaria to follow at Saint Sophia Cathedral. Father Steve Zorzos will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Niki’s life. The family would like to thank caregivers and doctors for their care and dedication.
