Norma Jane Strickland

(Age 80) was a strong, loving, and supportive wife, mother and grandmother, Norma passed away on Friday, September 21, 2018, after a long battle with COPD and dementia. A 41 year resident of Alexandria, VA, Norma is survived by her husband of 55 years, Lloyd, and her children, Cynthia (Ivan) Fisher, Beth (John) McIntire, Brad (Kim) Strickland. She was a proud grandmother to Jack, Alexis, Austin, Kellie, Carrie, and Connor, and a great-grandmother to Benjie. She also leaves behind her sister Betty (Ron) Wendt, and cousins Phyllis (Norbert) Greve and Barbara (Jerry - deceased) Brinkman as well as many special nieces and nephews. Norma retired from the Department of the Army after more than 20 years as an Army Civilian. She is a recipient of the Commander’s Award for Civilian Service and the Superior Civilian Service Award. Norma enjoyed spending time with her family, working crossword puzzles, sewing, traveling and playing board/card games. She will be dearly missed. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 30th from 1 – 4 PM at Demaine Funeral Home, Springfield. Funeral services will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
