Peter Phillip Ostrowski

Peter Phillip Ostrowski, age 84, passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at Greenspring Senior Living Community in Springfield, Virginia. Devoted husband of 56 years to Carol Carr Ostrowski; loving father of son Stephen Ostrowski of London, England and daughter, Elizabeth Ostrowski of Auckland, New Zealand; and proud grandfather of Annabel and Catherine Cooper. One of three siblings, he is also survived by his sister, Susan Morris of Berlin, Maryland, having been preceded in death by his twin brother, Perry.

Born in Rainbow Lakes, New Jersey to Alexander and Delia Ostrowski, Peter studied engineering at the University of Maryland and later earned his Ph.D. at the University of Connecticut. He began his career designing aircraft engines at Pratt & Whitney in Hartford before relocating to New Jersey and eventually Washington, DC, where he worked for many years as a contractor to the US Navy.

A lifelong baseball fan, Peter was also a wine enthusiast and in retirement enjoyed attending a weekly dance group with Carol when they weren’t traveling the world.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at 11 am at Demaine Funeral Home, Springfield, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Peter’s name to the Clark School of Engineering at the University of Maryland.

Son of New Jersey, adopted Washingtonian, a man for all seasons, he will be greatly missed.
