
Born in Ishpeming, Michigan, he was the son of the late James and Almina “Minnie” Karbum Fowler. He spent his career with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as a civil engineer with an emphasis on airports. Upon retirement, he opened his own consulting firm and traveled the world consulting on major airports.
Mr. Fowler is survived by his wife of 71 years, Judith “Sue” Fowler; two children, Karen Sneed of Goldsboro, North Carolina and Douglas Fowler (Nancy) of Frederick, Maryland; seven grandchildren, Nathan Wheeler (Leah) of Warrenton, Virginia; Garrett Sneed (Vendy) of Montclair, Virginia; Austin Sneed (Lauren) of Goldsboro, North Carolina; Ian Fowler of Frederick, Maryland; Cameron Sneed (Cathy) of Goldsboro, North Carolina; Timothy Fowler of Frederick, Maryland; and Kristin Fowler of Flag Pond, Tennessee; seven great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brothers James Fowler, Millard Fowler and Milburn Fowler; and sisters Frances Fowler Corsi and Aileen Fowler Tambling; and a special son-in-law James “Sam” Sneed.
A private burial will be held at a later date at Quantico National Cemetery.
