Nécrologie de Robert Alexander Campbell
Born on January 1, 1927 until his death on May18, 2020, Robert (Bob) Campbell’s legacy will be about the love of music and teaching students to love music. Born in Charlotte NC, Bob took his first job as a band director at a high school in Waynesville. Eventually Bob moved to Ann Arbor and received his Masters’ degree in music from the University of Michigan. From there he moved to Glendale, CA and became the band director at a high school for four years. Bob eventually moved to Bakersfield, CA, took over a struggling program at East Bakersfield High School and turned it into one of the best in the state. Revered by his students, Bob was tough but fair and taught them very well. Several students were inspired to become high school band directors of their own. In 2010 Bob moved to Springfield, Virginia and enjoyed his retirement there for his last ten years. The Littletons - John, Caterina, Philip and Francesca -were his family for many years and those who also knew him will miss him very much.
