Rodney Allen Grimes

RODNEY ALLEN GRIMES of Lorton, VA passed away on October 22, 2018 at Georgetown University Hospital. He leaves behind many MANY friends and family members whose lives he touched and who will miss him terribly.

Rodney was a disabled veteran from Operation Desert Storm. Serving as an Aeroscout in the 101st Airborne 2/17 Cavalry allowed him to realize his lifelong dream of flying. He was in the 101st for 4 years including Desert Storm. He did mechanical work with cars as well. His passion was a 1967 Pontiac Firebird Convertible.

In Rodney’s free time, he enjoyed working on cars, spending time with his great nieces and great nephews as well as his German Shepherd, Marshmallow, and snuggling with his newly found St. Bernard friend, Athena. Rodney worked with many rescues, following his mother and sister wherever rescue or assistance was needed. He was also very active with the American Legion Post 162.

On Saturday, November 17, 2018, a memorial gathering will be held at noon at Demaine Funeral Home, 5308 Backlick Road, Springfield, VA 22151 which will lead into a service to honor him at 1 pm.

Immediately after the service, there will be a Celebration of Life for Rodney at the Woodbridge Moose Lodge, at 9612 Fernedge Ln, Lorton, VA 22079.
