Roxanne (“Roxy”) C. Green (nee Hornberger) left this world too soon on October 1st, 2017 in her home in Sterling, Virginia at the young age of 27 years old. Roxanne is survived by her parents Edith (Edy) Ramieka (nee Hunter), Keith Hornberger, and Sean Rameika; her grandparents Deloris Hornberger, Kathleen and Mike Rohe, and Donald and Marie Rameika; her three siblings Nadine Hornberger (26), Nathan Hornberger(21), and Jacob Hornberger (19); her husband Nathaniel (Tré) Green III; her four children Nathaniel (“Q”) Green IV (15), Isis Green (13), Christian M. Green (7), and Eden J. Green (5); as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Roxy was born in Alexandria, Virginia on October 9th, 1989 to Edy Rameika and Keith Hornberger as the oldest of four siblings. She brought her parents immense joy while constantly keeping them on their toes, going straight to walking before learning to crawl and speaking in complete sentences when she started talking. Growing up in Clifton, Virginia she attended Westminster School, Notre Dame Academy, Greensboro College (NC), and cosmetology school in Winchester, Virginia. She married the love of her life, Nathaniel, on October 5, 2012 and was an incredibly devoted and loving Mother/Stepmother to their four children. After many years of working for Christie-Adams Salon and Spa, Roxanne helped begin and grow a wedding and floral design business (City Celebrations) with her Mother, Sister, and a friend, which allowed her to be home with her children more. A lover of animals, she was a competitive equestrian (eventing) for many years and rode for her family-owned farm “Overlook Farm” before retiring to start a family. Roxanne had recently started riding again and was returning to her deep love for the sport.
To say Roxanne was a loving and kind person would be to understate the size of her HUGE heart. She was beautiful, intelligent, empathetic, warm, fiercely loyal, and had a magnetic personality that you couldn’t help but be drawn to. It was a privilege to know her even if it was for a short time. As a person always willing to lend a hand, an ear, or a kind word to others it is no surprise that her heart touched so many souls during her too short time here on Earth. She will be deeply deeply missed by those who loved her. Roxy’s light lives on in her children and loved ones and the memories they shared with her. A celebration of her life will take place on Thursday, October 12th with a viewing at 11am and a service at 12pm at Demaine Funeral Home (5308 Backlick Road, Springfield, VA). Reception to follow at the Rameika Residence in Clifton, Virginia. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to her children’s future educational costs (Please address to Sean Rameika).
