Susan Elizabeth Bender

Of Annandale, VA on March 4, 2016.

Susan was the consummate Navy wife of John P. Bender; beloved mother of Christopher Bender (Melissa) of Annandale, VA and Julie Hall (Michael) of Oak Hill, VA; Sister of Robert Palmer (Patricia) of Ashburn, VA, Janet Hamel (Douglas) of Houston, TX and James Palmer (Joan) of Rockville, MD. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren: Evelyn, Cora, Leanna, Josephine and Elias.

Susan graduated from Mary Washington College of the University of Virginia with a Mathematics degree. She had an analytical career in Virginia Beach and in Northern Virginia.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Pam Phillips and the staff at Arden Courts of Annandale who helped Susan enjoy the last years of her life.

Graveside services will be held in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. A Celebration of her life will be held on or near that date at Demaine Funeral Home.
