

Virginia Burkart “Bunny” McDonald, 63, of Woodbridge, Virginia, passed away July 31, 2015, in Louisville with her family, friends and the angels by her side. She was born on Easter Sunday and nicknamed Bunny by her grandfather. Bunny was a graduate of Clemson University, she was a history teacher in South Carolina and had an illustrious career of over 30 years with the General Services Administration in Washington, DC. All who know and love Bunny will remember her beauty, smile, warm personality and infectious laugh. She was a beautiful soul. In the words of her father, Bunny would tell us all to "love one another and help one another, till we meet in heaven."
She was preceded in death by her father Francis Burkart II and her loving dog Liberty. Bunny is survived by her devoted husband Christopher, sons: Christopher and Alexander; mother Virginia Burkart; brother Francis (Skip) Burkart III (Crystal); sisters: Vivian Cambron (George, dec.) and Susan Spannbauer; nieces Jacqueline (Dayton), Lauren (Aydan), Terri and Melissa; nephews Lenny, John, Mickey, Joey and Sean; as well as extended family and friends.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 pm on Thursday, August 6, 2015, at Demaine Funeral Home, 5308 Backlick Road, Springfield, VA 22151. Her funeral mass will be at 10:30 am on Friday, August 7, 2015, at St. Raymond of Penafort Catholic Church, 8750 Pohick Road, Springfield, VA 22153, with interment at 1:30 pm at National Memorial Park, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA 22046.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be donated to St. Jude's Children's Hospital in Bunny’s honor.
