Iris Kathleen Swindell, age 92, of Maryland Heights, Missouri passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2022. Kathleen was born on August 25, 1930 to Aaron and Irene (nee: Wagner) Cookson. They have preceded her in death, as has her husband Deloit Swindell, and her siblings Joseph Cookson, Elizabeth Holland, and Bonnie Cookson. Kathleen is survived by: her daughters: Linda Casper (Don), Susan Swindell; her grandchildren: Heather Stein (Joel), Lauren Casper-Mrozewski (Eric), Nicole Casper; her great-grandchildren: Lucia, Mary Helen, Kateri, Philomena, Thomas, John Stein; her siblings: Harold Cookson, Pete Cookson, Duane Cookson, and Frieda Alexander.
Kathleen loved sewing, cooking and listening to music. She and her husband Deloit drove to Arkansas to be married on May 19, 1951. She was devoted to her family, and took her daughter, Linda, to piano and dance lessons every week. She was a lifelong caretaker to her daughter Susan and supported Susan in her interests and hobbies, especially her painting and crafting. Kathleen taught her grandchildren cooking classes in her kitchen, and she enjoyed playing organ in later years.
