James Alan Conroy, 66, of Overland, MO passed away suddenly on Monday, July 31, 2017. He is preceded in death by his father, James B. Conroy, Jr. Jim is survived by his mother, Doris (nee Taff) Conroy; brothers, Greg Conroy, Tim (Julie) Conroy, and Jeff Conroy; and lifelong friend, John (Michele) Reynolds. Jim was a dear son, brother, uncle, and friend.
Jim was a retired assistant chief for the Community Fire Protection District 3801 and was a member of the IFF Union Local 2665. He served in the Marines during the Vietnam era. Jim was a quiet man who had the strength of a Marine but was very soft-hearted. This is evidenced in his great love for animals (particularly dogs) and he was known to help out dogs and people whenever he was needed. Jim was a season ticket holder for the St. Louis Blues and enjoyed many years of great hockey. He was a music lover and a gifted guitar player who entertained monthly with his group, Phat Channel, at the Highway 61 Roadhouse in Webster Groves. Jim loved to travel either by motorcycle or in his RV and his adventures included Colorado, Florida, Tennessee, and the Dakotas—just to name a few. His free spirit and kind heart will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure to have known him.
Friends may visit on Sunday, August 6, 2017 at Alexander-White-Mullen Funeral Home in St. Ann from 4-8 p.m. Funeral service with fire department high honors will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, August 7 at the funeral home.
