Laura L. Scherer is described as generous and kind and someone whose life revolved around her family and friends. She reveled in taking care of her family, especially her seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, attending their school sporting events, whether they were a block away or a state away. Mrs. Scherer, 82, of Bridgeton, passed away surrounded by her family on Dec. 2, 2012. She was the Beloved wife of 64 years to Charles Scherer, dear Mother of Kathleen (Ron) Ross, Laura (Jim) Burris; mother-in-law of Janice Scherer; beloved grandmother of Rob (Angie) Scherer, Kerri Scherer, Andrew Scherer, Emily (Scott) Ziporin, Zachary Ross, Joe (Amy) Burris and Jake Burris; loving great-grandmother of five, and sister of Harry (Winnie) Hirst and Vi Kavanaugh. She was preceded in death by a son, Charles Scherer and sisters, Dolly Flickenger, Harriet Corbett and Lorraine Hale.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 12 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012 at St. Robert Ballarmine Catholic Church, 1424 First Capitol Drive, South, St. Charles, Mo. Interment will follow at Mount Lebanon Cemetery in St. Ann. Visitation will be at church from 10 a.m. until time of service.
