

Noel Albert Cookson, Sr., 77, born in Waterloo, IL to George and Lorena (nee Illert) Cookson on December 8, 1937, joined his place in Heaven on Friday, December 19, 2014. He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Karen Cookson; son, Douglas Cookson; brother, Allen Cookson; and sisters, Joyce Hale and Elizabeth Fruin.
Noel is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ida (nee Hull); children, Noel (Jane Fitzgerald) Cookson, Jr. and Laura (Andy) Staebel, grandsons, Adam Staebel and Austin and Emmett Cookson; niece Lyn (Linda) Maus and dear friend Beth Staebel.
Noel was a member of the Immanuel United Church of Christ. He worked as a Teamster dispatching trucks for Central Hardware and St. Charles Sand. He was a hard worker and a devoted Grandfather who taught his grandsons about hard work, enjoying the outdoors, and how to give a proper handshake. He will be missed by all who knew him and will be remembered for his faith in Jesus, his kindness and generosity of spirit, and his ability to get things done “now” whether it be packing 100 pounds of supplies into a 50-pound box, putting up the perfect Christmas tree, or building astonishing living room furniture from orange crates.
Visitation will be on Sunday, December 21, 2014 at Alexander-White-Mullen Funeral Home from 4-8 and at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 22, 2014 at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Ferguson before the service at noon. Interment at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorials are appreciated in Noel's memory to either Immanuel United Church of Christ or Emmaus Home for Children.
