Ruthann Henry, age 81, of Maryland Heights, Missouri in St. Louis County, died at home on May 15, 2024. She was born in St. Louis on September 13, 1942, to the late Ruth L. and Jesse H. Ford, Sr. On November 10, 1960, she married the love of her life, Robert Lee Henry Jr., who survived. Also surviving are a devoted daughter, Lisa D. Henry, two cherished grandchildren, Devin Hyatt and Spencer (Peyton Hanser) Hyatt, a dear sister, Dale (Charles) Sapp, and caring nieces and nephews, Doug, Greg, and Julie Sapp, Marla Hollock, Jackie Ford, Sean Mandrell, Andrew Henry, and David Henry Jr. She will be deeply missed by her husband, daughter, grandchildren, sister, extended family, friends, neighbors, and her compassionate caregiver, Kalea Landmann. Ruthann was preceded in death by a beloved son, Robert Lee Henry III, and two brothers, Jesse H. Ford Jr. and Jack K. Ford, and a sister-in-law, Jeannie Mandrell.
Ruthann obtained her nursing degree in 1990 from Florissant Valley College. She was a Registered Nurse and will always be remembered as a kind, compassionate, and generous person who made a positive impact on the lives of many. Her thirst for knowledge and experience led her to explore the British Isles with her classmates while studying abroad, an adventure that would become one of the most memorable experiences of her life.
Ruthann took pride in serving as a Reserve St. Louis County Police Officer. She was also an avid fan of the St. Louis Baseball Cardinals and enjoyed the sport on many levels. She was the scorekeeper for several years for the Trans World Airlines Softball Team of St. Louis that her husband once coached. Over the years, she attended the majority of the baseball games of her son and those of her two grandchildren. She kept score of the games, both in an official and unofficial capacity. She was a strong supporter of the Pattonville Drill Team to which her daughter belonged. She attended numerous competitions, meets, and events to cheer for her grandchildren’s Riverbend Subdivision Swim and Dive Team. She was especially fond of her house cats, the many trinkets she collected, and the music of Elvis Presley. Ruthann enjoyed traveling. In their younger years, she and her husband took frequent flights to various destinations such as Orlando, Tampa, New Orleans, Seattle, Los Angeles, Phoenix, New York City, and Honolulu. Her final wish was to have her ashes scattered in the Mississippi River so she could return to her favorite city, New Orleans.
