

Sister Mary Johnell Busch, RSM a Sister of Mercy, died at Catherine's Residence, St. Louis, MO on October 27, 2011. She was born on May 30, 1919 in Artesia, NM and was baptized Mary Juanita Busch. Sister Mary Johnell entered the Sisters of Mercy Community at Webster Groves, MO on August 29, 1934 and professed her first Vows on March 12, 1937. She received her B.A. in Biology and Mathematics from Incarnate Word College in San Antonio, TX in 1956 and her M.Ed. in Secondary Administration in 1961 from St. Mary's College in Xavier, KS. Her ministry included teaching for more than 40 years and as principal of schools in McAllen, Mission, Refugio, Edinburg, Harlingen, Mercedes, Laredo and Rio Grande City, TX, and St. Louis, MO. Sister Mary Johnell also ministered as Assistant Director of Novices for the St. Louis Region of the Sisters of Mercy for three years. Before retirement, Sister Mary Johnell volunteered at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Laredo, TX. Sister retired in 1998 and moved to St. Joseph Convent of Mercy in St. Louis in 2001. She moved to Catherine's Residence in 2006. Sister is survived by her nieces, Fran Ramsey of Wimberly, TX and Patricia Britt of Houston, TX. Geyer Rd., St. Louis, MO The Mass celebrating Life and Resurrection is at 6:00 pm, on Monday October 31, 2011, in the Chapel at Catherine's Residence, 2039 N. Geyer Rd, St. Louis, Mo.
