

Verba May White, 95, died on December 3, 2015 at Manor Grove Skilled Nursing Facility in Kirkwood, MO. She was born to William D and Mary (Chapman) Smith on May 14, 1920 in Panther Creek Kentucky. On May 11, 1940 she married her childhood sweetheart, H. Keith White. During their 75 years of marriage they enjoyed many activities together, first and foremost –family, they also enjoyed traveling to all 50 states, Mexico, Canada and Puerto Rico always making lifelong friends where ever they were. They celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary in May of this year. She was a loving wife, Mother, Grandmother (Nonnie) and Great Grandmother.
Verba was an incredibly giving woman, Girl Scout Troop Leader, Cub Scout Den Mother, community volunteer. She was a skilled seamstress, outstanding cook (Topsy Turvey coffee cake and chip cookies) and an avid gardener always having an abundance of tomatoes and zucchini to share and an enthusiastic if terrible golfer. She was active in any way she could at the Rock Hill Presbyterian Church from grounds committee to Deacon. She had a passion for learning the family history researching for years and dragging family members through many cemeteries and was a member of the St Louis Genealogical Society. She was a volunteer for many years with the Meals on Wheels. She attended McKinley High School and proudly earned High School GED from Merrimac Community College at age 60.
She was the most loving grandmother devoting herself wholly to her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 75 years H. Keith White, daughter Janet White Sansoucie, her parents, William D and Mary (Chapman) Smith, brothers Earl W (Louise) Smith, Rex W (Delores) Smith, William (Gloria) Smith, Ted (Dot) Smith, Robert (Elaine) Smith and sisters Pearl (Evan) McFarland, Verna (Don) Farney and Evelyn (George) Birlew, daughter in law Susan Menke-White. She is survived, son Dennis White of Sturgeon Bay WI. Grandchildren Sallie (Brian) Overton of Helena, MT, Jane (Steve) Kurzer of Bend, OR, Benjamin (Dane Borg) Hazelton of Portland, OR, Emily (Todd) Wells of Bend OR, Alexander White of Madison, WI, Rebecca White (Peace Corp volunteer) Uganda and Keith White of Denver, CO, great grandchildren Jens Bolstad III, Jacob Kurzer, Micah Kurzer, Evan Wells and Elizabeth Wells, brother OD (Wanda) Smith, sister Montell (John) Jameson and many nieces and nephews.
SERVICES: Visitation 2:00 p.m. until time of service at 3:00 p.m. at ALEXANDER-WHITE-MULLEN Funeral Home 11101 St. Charles Rock Rd., St. Ann, MO 63074. Interment in Mount Lebanon Cemetery.
