Beloved husband of Marie (nee Smith) Gross; dearest father of Cindy (the late John) Lay, Sandy (Rick) Crane, Randy Gross, Nathan Gross; loving grandfather of Jennifer (Cory) Lipscomb, Eric Crane; proud great-grandfather of Carter Lipscomb and Zach (Josh) Crane; uncle, cousin and friend to everyone he met.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents Robert & Eleanor (nee Eschenbach) Gross, late ex-wife & friend Leavean (Lea) (nee Barton) Gross, brothers Robert, Donald & Raymond and sisters Rosemary Kennedy and Dorothy Mann.
Bill was a very proud Army Veteran serving in the Korean War. He loved to tell stories about his years in the Army. Bill was a man of Christ. Anywhere he had walked one could find a small rolled paper with the Bible verse John 3:16 that he would copy, and hand rolled himself in hopes that he could spread the word of God. His mission in life was to preach the gospel. He was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Arnold. After his retirement from Dohrn Transfer as a dock worker he went on to start his own business Gross for Pest Control as an exterminator. He loved to educate everyone about bugs and how to prevent them. In most recent months, he could be found at the Bridgeton Recreation Center walking with his big walker and greeting everyone who walked in the door.
A public visitation for Bill will held on December 20, 2022 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Alexander White Mullen Funeral Home 11101 St Charles Rock Road St. Ann, MO 63074. A second visitation will be held at 9:00 am to 10:30am with the funeral service to follow at 10:30am on December 21, 2022. A committal service will occur Wednesday December 21, 2022 at 12:30pm at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, 2900 Sheridan Jefferson Barracks, MO 63125.
In lieu of Flowers a contribution can be made to the Bridgeton Senior Services.
