Brian P. Flaherty, born in Washington, DC on November 14, 1937 to William C. Flaherty and Rosemary Flaherty (nee Lydon), passed to the Lord on July 30, 2022 in Rochester Hills, MI. Brian grew up in Grosse Pointe, attended St. Paul on the Lake singing in their church choir for years, and was a proud member of the first graduating class at Austin Catholic Prep in Detroit. He went on to the novitiate for Augustinian priesthood ultimately deciding it wasn’t his career path. Brian settled into the business of drafting supplies (yes, slide rules, paper, and pencils) until retirement. He was a passionate fan of opera and professional hockey, travelling the country to see the best performances in each. Brian was predeceased by sister Brenda DeSilva (Carl), brothers William (Josephine) and Paul (Donna); and is survived by brothers Mike (Diane) and Jim (Rosemarie), and nearly two dozen nieces and nephews who showered him with birthday cards and Christmas gifts consistently over the last two decades of his life.
Brian will lie in-state on Saturday August 6, 2022, beginning at 9:00 am, until time of mass at 10:00 am, at Our Lady Star of the Sea 467 Fairford Road, Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan 48236.
Interment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton Township, Michigan.
