Edward Mico, age 98, was born on August 7, 1927, and passed away on February 23, 2026. A resident of St. Clair Shores, Michigan, Edward will be remembered as a generous, humorous, faithful, hard-working, thoughtful, and wise man whose life reflected steady devotion to family, work, and the values he held dear. After this introduction, he will be lovingly remembered as Edward.
Born in Chattaroy, West Virginia, and raised in Sarann (Crystal Block) and Abbs Valley, Virginia. Edward was the son of John and Anna Mico. Edward was preceded in death by his siblings Lillian, Helen, Bill, and John.
When Edward was 17 he moved to Detroit to seek employment and worked at Hudson Motor Car Company. During that time, he met Mary Lou Dujardin and were married in 1952. They had four sons and were married for 67 years.
He was the father of Gregory (Susan) Mico, Mark (Cynthia) Mico, Brian Mico, and Edward (LaShawn) Mico. He was the grandfather of Becky (Derek) Augustyn, Megan (John) Sims, Laura (Kyle) Stein, Cortney (Skyler) Love, Jonathon Mico, Hanna Mico, Blake (Emily) Mico, Logan Mico, Dylan Mico, Eric Mico, and Jordyn Mico. He was a great great-grandfather to 10.
Edward found joy in the outdoors and in the company of those he loved most. Family enjoyed visiting family and vacationing in Edwards hometown of West Virginia. He loved hunting and fishing, and he especially cherished spending time with family and friends.
A man of strong work ethic and quiet dedication, Edward worked for Saffran Engineering for 17 years. He later retired from General Motors after 12 years of faithful service as a mechanical engineer. He also took pride in being the owner and operator of the Brown Derby Bar for 8 years. Through each chapter of his working life, Edward earned respect through consistency, responsibility, and the steady care he showed to others.
Funeral Mass will take place at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church 28301 Little Mack Ave., St. Clair Shores, Michigan 48081, on Saturday, March 21, 2026, beginning with a gathering at 9:30 am, until time of Mass at 10:00 am.
