Eugenia "Genie" Rawson, born on September 13, 1951, in Detroit, Michigan, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2025, in Troy, Michigan. A devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt nurse, and friend, Genie touched countless lives with her warmth, humor, and unwavering support.
Genie was the loving mother of Eric (Meyad) Bird and Jason (Robyn) Bird. She was the proud grandmother of Helen "Birdie" Bird (Emma Bird), Miriam Duhart, Dylan Bird (Aly Bird), Klodi Kuqi, Caleb Bird, Madison Konarski, Brennan Bird, Brody Bird, Jack Bayles, Lillyanna Bird, Chase Bales, Mariah Bird, and Bella Bales. Her family was her world, and she never missed an opportunity to cheer them on at sporting events or proudly celebrate their accomplishments with her enthusiastic ringing of her cowbell from the stands.
Genie is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lorex "Rex" Rawson; her parents, Dolores and Richard; and her sisters, Loretta and Christine.
As a nurse for 36 years, Genie made a lasting impact on her patients and colleagues, specializing in cardiology and elder care. Her compassion and dedication to helping others defined her career and exemplified her giving spirit.
Genie was an avid supporter of her sons' and grandchildren's athletic pursuits and could often be found on the sidelines, cheering them on with pride. A lifelong fan of Detroit sports, she never wavered in her loyalty to her favorite teams and would loudly cheer them on from anywhere she was.
In lieu of flowers, Genie requested that donations be made in her memory to the Merging Veterans and Players (MVP) organization, reflecting her commitment to causes close to her heart.

Family will receive friends for celebration of life on Saturday, February 22nd at Kaul Funeral home in St Clair Shores, 28433 Jefferson Ave., St. Clair Shores, Michigan 48081. Gathering will begin at 12:00 pm, until time of service at 2:00 pm.
The attire for her celebration of life is sports apparel!!
Her presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit and humor will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
