Francis "Sonny" Joseph Smith Jr.

Francis “Sonny” J. Smith Jr., age 80, passed away on December 2, 2021. He was born on April 15, 1941 in Sterling Heights, Michigan to his loving parents Francis and Melvina Smith. Sonny is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Sally; loving children: Cheryl (Darrell) Deffen, Laura (fiancé James Latham) Smith; dear grandson: Joseph Deffen; and siblings: Linda Benson, James Smith, and George Smith. Also left to cherish his memory are many loving nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his sisters: Barbara Allor and Kay Koy. Sonny was a member of the Mt. Clemens Elks and the Skidway Moose Lodge 440. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with Sally and their friends at their summer cottage. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 from 3:00p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Kaul Funeral Home, 28433 Jefferson Ave., St. Clair Shores.
