

Gray was born November 6, 1924 in Schoharie, New York to Clifford Frank Marshman and Hilda Mae (Sample) Marshman. After graduating from Middleburgh Central School in 1942, he was drafted into the U.S. Navy. He served in WWII in the Atlantic Theater as an Electrician’s Mate aboard USS Thomas (DE 102), a Destroyer Escort. He met his future wife, Betty Jean Snider, at the Brodhead Naval Armory in Detroit, Michigan. He married Betty on August 10, 1946 in Detroit. Following his military service, Gray was an electrician for Detroit Edison for 37 years and retired in June 1986. He was also an active member of the Destroyer Escort Sailors Association (DESA), Michigan Chapter. Gray is survived by his wife of 68 years; his daughter Gayle Ann (Larry) Morlock of Evart, Michigan; his son Richard Graydon (Diana) Marshman of Norcross, Georgia; and his two grandchildren, Sara Diana Marshman of Alexandria, Virginia, and Timothy Richard Marshman of Duluth, Georgia. He was predeceased by his parents and his sister Beatrice Arlene D’Arcangelo.
Visitation will be from 3pm until 9pm with a 7pm funeral service on Wednesday, December 10th at the at Kaul Funeral Home at 28433 Jefferson Avenue in St. Clair Shores. Burial will follow on Thursday [at White Chapel Memorial Park Cemetery at 621 W. Long Lake Road in Troy.
