

Henry A. Giroux, age 93, died September 24, 2015. Beloved husband of the late Jean (nee Hartman). Loving father of Thomas (Anne), Joseph (Christine), Corinne (Jerry) Tononi, Patrick (Julie), Bill (Kim), and Jeannine (Gary) Mercurio. Dearest grandfather of 17; and great-grandfather of 13. Dear brother of Albert (Isabel), Mary Carroll, and Raymond (Pat). Henry was predeceased by his parents Irenee’ and Margaret; siblings Leonard, Sr. Mary Margaret, OSM, Lawrence, Rodolphe, and William. Henry was born in Tingwick, Quebec April 15, 1922 and came to Detroit in 1924. He proudly served as a Tech Sergeant in WWII in the US Army. He was a Steamfitter and was a proud member of Local Union 636 for 69 years. Henry was very active in St. Gertrude’s Parish serving as an usher, president of the parish council, Men’s Club, little league coach and men’s club softball league. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Enjoyed playing golf, softball, fishing, gardening and birdwatching and good music. He also enjoyed, “Sundays with the Giroux Clan at Lakeview and Waveny”, and taking his family to Cincinnati for the holidays. Henry was an avid sports fan, especially golf, Detroit teams, U of M football and even curling on slow sports days. He loved attending kid’s sporting events and occasionally corrected the ref’s when, “they didn’t get it right”. Visitation Wednesday 3-9 pm with a Rosary at 7 pm at Kaul Funeral Home, 28433 Jefferson, St. Clair Shores. In state Thursday 9:30 am until time of mass at 10 am at Our Lady of Hope Parish, 28301 Little Mack Ave, St Clair Shores. Interment with Military Honors at St. Gertrude Cemetery, St. Clair Shores, Michigan. Memorial contributions to Capuchin Soup Kitchen and Delgado Fund, Inc. would be appreciated.
